More may light up at home

Research by University College London claims that parents are more likely to light up at home if they are prevented from smoking in bars and restaurants. Dr Jerome Adda, who carried out the UCL study, said: "Outright bans may not be the optimal policy. Bans in bars may induce smokers to spend more time at home and expose other members of the household, especially children, to smoke."

You do not need a doctorate to come to the conclusion that more people will chose to stay at home and possibly smoke more.

Our politicians seem to have lost all sense of proportionality with the smoking ban debate as well as common sense. They need to get out a bit more often. When I lookedround at people in the pubs over the New Year's Eve, everyone was perfectly happy with people either smoking or not smoking. Now a proportion of the people I observed will basically be classified as criminals if the lit up. God save us from these anti-smoking zealots.

I'm yet to actually meet ONE person who supports the smoking ban... does no one else (especially these oh-so-caring polititions!) seem to realize this?!?
